SIngle-Day Adventures

Wolf River Rossville to Arlington Collierville Rd
Author Last Post
Sorry about the late notice Kelly.

We had a great paddle.  The group was Jim Gafford, Chris Austin, Mary Finley, Geza Varay and myself. Forty degrees at the start, warming to 60 degrees and plenty of sunshine.

The river was high,  Over 9' at the Rossville Gage when we began and declining. Auto access at the takeout was a challenge, but Jim powered through the water with the mighty Isuzu Trouper.  The paddle was fast, over 3 mph for about 11 miles.

Jim and I scored a couple of auto wheels with tires mounted and other trash.  Geza attempted the rescue of an Eastern Box Turtle stranded by the high water but she was not cooperative.

I would of joined you but I didn't see this in time and I was looking for it! Maybe we need to put a separate tab on there for "Impromptu paddles". I am going to go to Herb Parson's Lake Sunday afternoon. I am going to post it here.
I plan to join Jim Gafford for an Impromptu Paddle tomorrow, March 16, 2019.  He's what Jim had to say about it:

Proposed Timetable
  • Breakfast at the Wolf RIver Cafe (7:30)
  • Unload at Rossville ramp (8:15)
  • Shuttle at 8:30
  • Launch into the water (9:00)
The river is still up (8.63') but dropping. It should be a very pleasant and swift paddle.

Text me if you want updates on any changes in the proposed timetable
